    On asimuthal anisotropy in fragmentation of classical relativistic string

    A fragmenting relativistic string is widely used for modelling particle production via quark-gluon strings formed in hadron inelastic interactions of high energies. In this note we focus on motion and fragmentation of relativistic string with non-zero transverse separation of its ends and study this scenario as a possible mechanism bringing anisotropy into the asimuthal angle disribution of produced particles in inelastic interactions of hadrons.Comment: 12 pages, 6 figure

    All-loop calculation of the Reggeon field theory amplitudes via stochastic model

    The evolution equations for Green functions of the Reggeon Field Theory (RFT) are equivalent to those of the inclusive distributions for the reaction-diffusion system of classical particles. We use this equivalence to obtain numerically Green functions and amplitudes of the RFT with all loop contributions included. The numerical realization of the approach is described and some important applications including total and elastic proton--proton cross sections are studied. It is shown that the loop diagram contribution is essential but can be imitated in the eikonal cross section description by changing the Pomeron intercept. A role of the quartic Pomeron coupling which is an inherent part of the stochastic model is shown to be negligible for available energies.Comment: In v2: discussion extended and one new figure added within section 4.     Can We Get Deeper Inside the Pion at the LHC?

    We propose a measurement of leading neutrons spectra at LHC in order to extract inclusive π+p\pi^+ p and π+π+\pi^+\pi^+ cross-sections with high pTp_T jets production. The cross-sections for these processes are simulated with the use of parton distributions in hadrons. In this work we estimate the possibility to extract parton distributions in the pion from the data on these cross-sections and also search for signatures of fundamental differences in the pion and proton structure.Comment: 14 pages, 9 figures, to be published elsewhere, minor correction

    Elliptic flow from color strings

    It is shown that the elliptic flow can be successfully described in the color string picture with fusion and percolation provided anisotropy of particle emission from the fused string is taken into account. Two possible sources of this anisotropy are considered, propagation of the string in the transverse plane and quenching of produced particles in the strong color field of the string. Calculations show that the second source gives an overwhelming contribution to the flow at accessible energies.Comment: 23 pages, 11 figure

    Survival probability of large rapidity gaps in QCD and N=4 SYM motivated model

    In this paper we present a self consistent theoretical approach for the calculation of the Survival Probability for central dijet production . These calculations are performed in a model of high energy soft interactions based on two ingredients:(i) the results of N=4 SYM, which at the moment is the only theory that is able to deal with a large coupling constant; and (ii) the required matching with high energy QCD. Assuming, in accordance with these prerequisites, that soft Pomeron intercept is rather large and the slope of the Pomeron trajectory is equal to zero, we derive analytical formulae that sum both enhanced and semi-enhanced diagrams for elastic and diffractive amplitudes. Using parameters obtained from a fit to the available experimental data, we calculate the Survival Probability for central dijet production at energies accessible at the LHC. The results presented here which include the contribution of semi-enhanced and net diagrams, are considerably larger than our previous estimates.Comment: 11 pages, 10 pictures in .eps file

    Nuclear shadowing in Glauber-Gribov theory with Q2-evolution

    We consider deep inelastic scattering off nuclei in the Regge limit within the Glauber-Gribov model. Using unitarized parton distribution functions for the proton, we find sizeable shadowing effects on the nuclear total and longitudinal structure functions, F2AF_2^A and FLAF_L^A, in the low-x limit. Extending a fan-diagram analysis for the large-mass region of coherent diffraction off nuclei to high Q2, we also find significant shadowing effects in this kinematical regime. Finally, we discuss shortcomings of our approach and possible extensions of the model to other kinematical regimes.Comment: 16 pages, 9 figure

    Estimates of hadron azimuthal anisotropy from multiparton interactions in proton-proton collisions at sqrt(s) = 14 TeV

    We estimate the amount of collective "elliptic flow" expected at mid-rapidity in proton-proton (p-p) collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), assuming that any possible azimuthal anisotropy of the produced hadrons with respect to the plane of the reaction follows the same overlap-eccentricity and particle-density scalings as found in high-energy heavy ion collisions. Using a Glauber eikonal model, we compute the p-p eccentricities, transverse areas and particle-multiplicities for various phenomenological parametrisations of the proton spatial density. For realistic proton transverse profiles, we find integrated elliptic flow v2 parameters below 3% in p-p collisions at sqrt(s) = 14 TeV.Comment: 17 pages, 9 figures. Very minor mods.
